Amir Baradaran (SNAKE) offers Halva

Amir Baradaran (SNAKE) offers Halva - a traditional Persian confectionery eaten in various forms across the world, from the Middle East to the Balkans to India. It's often served at funerals. @amir_baradaran Ingredients  * 1 cup of water * 1 cup of sugar (I prefer u filtered brown sugar) * 1 cup of rose water  * 1/4 cup brewed saffron  * 1 cup flour. (I prefer to use vital wheat gluten flour that is rich in protein equal to 60-80% of the flour mass. Alternatively, you can also use whole-wheat flour).   * ½ cup oil (I prefer to use avocado oil) * ¼ teaspoon cardamom powder * Thin slices of pistachio and/or almonds  Instructions  * Mix water and sugar until the water boils and the sugars has desolated. Remove from heat.  * Add saffron and rose water. Stir for 1 minute and let it cool down.  * Heat a separate saucepan and add the flour. Stir for 7-10 minutes with medium heat. The flour will slowing become brown. The longer you sauté the flour, the richer and darker the halva will become.  * Slowly add oil and keep stirring  * Add cardamon and stir.  * Keep stirring/frying for 5-6 minutes.  * Add the syrup in small increments.  * Keep stirring until desired consistency. This can take 10-15 minutes. (I like to stir until the halva turns into a cohesive mass that I can roll into a cylindrical shape by tilting the saucepan)  * Remove from heat * Spread halva onto a plate. (I like to get playful and use various utensils to create different patterns and shapes).  * Garnish with thin slices of pistachios, almonds, etc. Halva can be served hot or at room temperature.  #hoxzodiac #hoxzodiacdinner
